Shaoxing University has achieved a significant international milestone with its official recognition as a Founding Member of the World Alliance for Geospatial Industry, an initiative launched by the United Nations Global Geospatial Knowledge and Innovation Centre (UN-GGKIC) “hereinafter refers to the UN Innovation Centre.
Professor Saied Pirasteh, serving as the contact person for Shaoxing University, was invited by the United Nations to join the Alliance as a founding member. This prestigious recognition places Shaoxing University among globally acknowledged leaders in geospatial artificial intelligence (GeoAI), spatial innovation, and advanced geospatial technologies.
The World Alliance for Geospatial Industry aims to promote international collaboration, technological innovation, and sustainable development within the global geospatial sector. As a founding member, Shaoxing University will play a strategic role in shaping the Alliance’s future direction, strengthening academic-industry partnerships, and contributing to global geospatial knowledge exchange.
In official correspondence, the Preparatory Working Group of the Alliance expressed sincere appreciation for the University’s support, noting that the participation of founding members has laid a solid foundation for the establishment and long-term development of the Alliance. The Alliance has also activated its official communication channel (giicb@cagis.org.cn) to facilitate ongoing collaboration.
This achievement enhances the University’s global visibility, reinforces its leadership in GeoAI research and innovation, and opens new opportunities for international cooperation, joint research initiatives, and high-level engagement within the global geospatial community.
