Shaoxing University proudly announces that Professor Dr. Saied Pirasteh has been awarded funding under the 2026 ISPRS Education and Capacity Building Initiatives by the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS).
His approved project, titled “AI-Enabled Enhancing the Geospatial Information Capabilities of Countries to Support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”, has been granted for a one-year period beginning February 12, 2026.
The proposal underwent a highly competitive international evaluation process by the ISPRS Council, with input from Technical Commission Presidents. The adjudicators recognized the project as an excellent contribution to global geospatial capacity development, strongly aligned with ISPRS strategic priorities outlined in the ISPRS Orange Book.
The initiative aims to strengthen geospatial information capabilities through Artificial Intelligence (AI), empowering countries to better monitor, evaluate, and implement the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The project will advance education, innovation, and international collaboration in GeoAI and spatial information sciences.
This achievement reflects Dr. Pirasteh’s continued leadership in geospatial technologies, capacity building, and sustainable development research, further enhancing Shaoxing University’s global engagement and academic impact.
