Title: Research Challenges in Wi-Fi Sensing

Speaker: Dr. Muhammad Faizan Khan, The University of Haripur, Pakistan, Assistant professor

Time: 3月12日周三  上午09:00-10:00

Venue: 人工智能研究院311会议室(老行政楼北楼3楼)

Abstract:

Wi-Fi sensing has revolutionized environmental perception, enabling applications in healthcare, security, and disaster response. A critical area of interest is its deployment in collapsed structures for victim detection and situational awareness, where challenges such as signal attenuation, multipath interference, and cluttered environments significantly impact performance. This talk explores state-of-the-art advancements in Wi-Fi sensing, addressing these technical hurdles and potential solutions. Additionally, we provide key insights into writing a compelling Research Fund for International Scientists (RFIS) proposal for the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), covering essential components, common pitfalls, and strategies to enhance funding success.

Speaker introduction: Dr. Muhammad Faizan Khan received the B.E (2012) in Information and Communication System Engineering from National University of Science and Technology, Pakistan, M.S (2014) in Communication and Information Systems from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and Ph.D. (2019) in Cyberpsace Security from Guangzhou University, China respectively. He is currently working as postdoc fellow with School of Computer Science and Cyber Engineering, Guangzhou University. Moreover, he is also an Assistant Professor, and a Doctoral Supervisor at Department of Information Technology, The University of Haripur. His research interests include signal kinetics, Wi-Fi sensing, IoT, and cyberspace security.
