Professor Saeid Pirasteh of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence has been elected Secretary General of the Academic Network of the United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM) for a two-year term starting January 2025.
Professor Saeid Pirasteh has more than 20 years of research experience in the field of geographic information science and spatial intelligence, and is the vice president of the Institute of Artificial Intelligence of our university and the leader of the Geospatial Artificial Intelligence team. His research results have been widely used in remote sensing image analysis, environmental protection, disaster management and other fields, and have made important contributions to promoting the realization of global sustainable development goals. Professor Saeid Pirasteh said that he will work to promote the standardization and sharing of global geographic information management, strengthen the capacity building of developing countries in the field, and promote the application of geographic information technology in solving global development problems.
