Dr. Masood Varshosaz, born 1,11,1966, MSc in Photogrammetry (1994) from University College London (University of London, UK) and PhD in Photogrammetry (1999) from University College London (University of London, UK). He has 22 years of research, development, teaching, administration, and management experience. He has served at a number of managerial positions including Visiting Researcher to FBK, Italy (2018), University deputy of Administration and Finance (2011- 2013), Dean of Students of Faculty of Geomatics Engineering (2010- 2011), Head of Close Range Photogrammetry Lab (2007-2012), Head of University Central Library (2008- 2010), Head of Departments Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (2004- 2007 & 2022-2023), Head of faculty Computer Center (2000- 2001). Also, he has conducted a number of executive and research projects including Development Of A Surveying Robot (2017-2019), Topographic Mapping Of 14 Historical Villages and 50 Kilometers Of Karoon Shoreline, Iran (2017-2018), Producing The Virtual Tour Of K. N. Toosi University Of Technology (2016) and International Airport Of Mehrabad, Tehran, Iran (2005), GIS Needs Assessment Of Khoozestan Water And Power Authority (2006) and Goghazanbil Historical Site (2003), and Development of a Standard for Using Geomatics Methods (Photogrammetry and Laser Scanners) in Cultural Heritage Applications (2005). He is the co-chair of ISPRS ICWG III/Iva and the national representative of Iran in ICA.
He has taught courses to more than 2000 national and international students at BSc, MSc, and PhD levels. He has supervised more than 60 doctoral and master students. He has developed many scientific algorithms, and also registered 4 national patents. He has won two full study scholarships (MSc and PhD), one special university grant (2017), and 3 best technical paper awards at prestigious national conferences. He has published more than 60 papers in national and international highly respected refereed journal and more than 100 papers in national and international conferences. He is a member of editorial board of many well internationally recognised journals and the guest editor for the journals MDPI Remote Sensing and Frontiers in Remote Sensing. He co-authored the first and only book on UAV Photogrammetry in Iran, which became the 4th top selling book (out of 1000 digital books published by University of Tehran, Iran), soon after its publication.
