Successful Joint Workshop on AI-Empowered Capacity Building for Flood Management

Shaoxing, China – June 1, 2024: The Joint Workshop on AI-Empowered Capacity Building for Flood Management, themed "Deep Dive in Geospatial Artificial Intelligence: Engaging Collaboration for a Better Environment," was successfully held on May 31, 2024 (Friday). Hosted by the Institute of Artificial Intelligence at Shaoxing University, this one-day event brought together experts, researchers, private sectors, policymakers, and students to explore the potential of Geospatial Artificial Intelligence (GeoAI) in addressing critical environmental and societal challenges.

Co-organized by the MoE Key Lab of Virtual Geographic Environment at Nanjing Normal University, CIG (Overseas Chapter) in Canada, and the International Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) ICWG III/IVa (Disaster Management) & ISPRS WG I/5 (Microwave and InSAR Technology for Earth Observation), WG I/4 (LiDAR, Laser Altimetry and Sensor Integration), and The International Cartographic Association (ICA), Commission  on Cartography in Early Warning and Crisis Management and Commission on Geospatial Data Analytics. The workshop focused on leveraging collaborative efforts and advanced technologies to enhance disaster management practices.

Highlights of the Workshop:

Engaging Presentations: Participants were treated to a series of insightful presentations that showcased the latest advancements and applications of GeoAI in various domains such as environmental sustainability, urban planning, and disaster management. Experts shared their research findings and practical experiences, highlighting the transformative impact of GeoAI technologies.

Interactive Discussions and Brainstorms: The workshop facilitated vibrant discussions and brainstorming sessions, encouraging participants to exchange ideas and explore innovative solutions collaboratively. These interactive segments were instrumental in fostering a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the GeoAI field.
